
Micro trucks (Kei Trucks) are also sold in America. They are not road legal in the USA, but they make great farm/hunting vehicles. Like the one in the picture. In Canada, they can be street legal if they are 15 years or older.
An interesting side note, in Japan, these vehicle are called "Keitora" for short.

Why are these cars not road legal in America?
(I'm from The Faroe Islands, and I've seen a couple of Subaru Sambar's driving around here in my time).
I found the answer here:
"ATV Truck Sales in Holly Michigan (see contact info below) import four wheel drive units for off road use because the import rules that they are imported under prohibits them from being used on our highways due to a lack of emission statements from the manufacturers or impact studies."

Oh, and I just found out that the cars I've been seeing are Suzuki Super Carrys, not Subarus.
